Douglas Meacham

Douglas Meacham was 82 years of age, lived in Hayden, CO and passed away on August, 15th, 2026. Many knew him as a gentle, kind, and generous man. For more than 20 years he ran the Yampa Valley Feed Store in Hayden that is now known as The Grainary. It was the local hangout spot for story telling and coffee drinking.

He was divinely gifted in his craftsmanship of leatherwork and saddle making. He spent his spare time raising horses, at one point his collection grew to 25 head.

Doug was born in Richfield, Utah on May 7th, 1944 to Heber A. Meacham and Lucille A. Neilson-Meacham. He was a brother to Deloye, Arvella, Arda, and Kenneth Meacham and had six step siblings.

Doug married the love of his life when he was 19 years old. Fran was the beauty and light of his world. Together they had their daughters Vickie (Dennis) Parrott and Wendy (Shawn) Buckley. He was a proud grandfather of Megan (Ray) Vodicka, Dusty (Katie) Parrott, Katie (Dave) Mulkey, Garrett Buckley, Shaylyn (Braeden) Sullivan, and Kaylee (Dustin) DeBusk. He is preceded in death by Fran.

He is survived by his younger brother Ken.

Doug's Celebration of Life will be held Saturday August 22nd, 2026 @ 11:30am in the Routt County Fairgrounds Exhibit Hall. In lieu of flowers please consider making donations to the Routt County 4-H or West Routt Fire Department in honor of Doug Meacham.
