Forrest "Spike" Dewayne Reedy

He was born in Anadarko, Oklahoma, to Bud and Cleo Reedy. Spike had one brother, Bill Reedy and two sisters, Patsy Reedy-Gray and Sue Traywick. He spent his years growing up raising pigs and was a member of the FFA He was taught at an early age to always work hard for the things you want in life and that’s exactly what he did.

Spike met his best friend Donna at Cameron University in Lawton, Oklahoma. They were married on June 7, 1974 and just celebrated their 52nd year together in June. They spent a lifetime of raising kids, building two businesses, going on numerous family vacations (a big favorite being camping and fishing in Red River, New Mexico). In later years, they both faced multiple health issues, but through it all they were each others biggest supporters and biggest fans.

Spike had three kids: Cassie, Zack and Ike. He was the best dad you could ever ask for. Yes he was hard, taught life lessons, but at the end of the day, he had your back and saw everything to the end.

Spike worked as a county agent and a safety manager at WFEC before moving his family to the Craig/Hayden Colorado area in 1986. He spent his early Colorado days starting out building his Insurance Agency. He made many life long friends. He enjoyed drinking coffee at the Golden Cavy in Craig and later, when he and Donna moved to Hayden, you could find him at the Food Mill and at the feed store with his buddy Doug.

Spike provided service to his community over the years – being an Insurance Agent, flipping burgers and serving “Spike” fries at Poor Boys – selling lumber at Pro Build and helping with many 4-H projects when his kids were growing up. He also fulfilled one of his dreams of raising a colt and breaking her so his kids and two of his grandkids could ride her. He even got his mom to sit on her once.

Spike enjoyed writing poetry. If you had a poem written about you, you meant a lot to him. Him and Donna put a book together of his many poems. He went to numerous places and read some of them – most being Cowboy poetry.

Spike’s grand and great grandkids were his pride and joy. He was proud of every single one and loved them very much. Grandchildren: Taylor, Dylan, Kolbey, Trevor, Joseph, Gideon, Meranda and Jovon; Great Grandkids: Oliver, Parker, Logan and August.

Spike will be remembered for his wisdom, his strong faith and most of all his love for his family. He will be missed beyond words by everyone who loved him.

March 24, 1960 - “I was baptized at Bethal Baptist Church by Brother Aaron Hacker. Church located at 501 West Florida, Anadarko, Oklahoma 73005. I was saved that week in a Sunday night service.
