Gina Louise Wyman, 48, passed away peacefully in her home in Craig, Colorado, on June 3, 2026, surrounded by her loving wife, Amy, and her devoted dogs. After a courageous two-year battle with cancer, she faced her final days just as she lived her life: with fierce strength, unwavering hope, and an untamed spirit.
A private family graveside service will be held on June 27th at the Pagoda Cemetery, followed by a celebration of her life at 2:00 p.m. at her home in Craig, where friends and family are welcome to gather, share stories, and honor her vibrant memory.
Saltwater Roots and Mountain Callings
Born on September 12, 1977, in Craig, Colorado, Gina spent her formative years along the coast of North Carolina, graduating from West Carteret High School in 1996. A decorated member of the swim team and a passionate musician in the Marching Patriots band, music and the water became permanently woven into her soul. Whether she was captaining her boat on the ocean or just soaking up the sun, the beach was her happy place.
Yet the rugged beauty of Colorado was always calling. Having spent cherished childhood summers on the family ranch in Craig, the pull of the Western Slope eventually became too strong to ignore. She packed up and returned to her roots, where she transitioned from a career in health care to working with her hands as a local handyman. It was back home in Craig where life handed her a truly modern-day "meet-cute," finding the love of her life, Amy, through TikTok.
A Wild Heart and an Open Door
A true adventurer, Gina lived for the thrill of the outdoors. She was wild at heart and always ready for a "crazy adventure"—from cliff-diving in Hawaii and swimming with dolphins, to exploring off-the-grid mountain peaks, with a lifelong goal to visit every single National Park.
Professionally, Gina’s deep empathy led her to serve others for over 15 years in health care. She worked across oncology and dialysis units before spending six impactful years as a paramedic for Nash County EMS, providing critical, compassionate care during people’s most vulnerable moments.
A Mother to Many, A Haven for All
Gina’s greatest legacy, however, was the sheer size of her heart. She cherished her bonus kids, Rae and Owen, and her nephew and niece, Walter and Winnie, with a fierce, unconditional love. But Gina’s maternal warmth never stopped at the property line; she was a bonus mom, a safe haven, and a second mother to a countless number of adult "kids" who looked to her for guidance, love, and a place to belong.
Her sanctuary extended to the animal kingdom as well. Rarely seen without at least one dog by her side, her pup Bailey was her constant companion from the day she was born. Gina’s compassion knew no bounds—she nursed an injured hawk, bottle-fed a baby deer, took in abandoned cats, and lovingly put up with the animal-rescuing shenanigans of Amy and their roommate, Paul, who were constantly bringing new creatures home.
Survivors and Legacy
Gina will be forever remembered for her sharp wit, her infectious humor, her wild adventures, and her steadfast love.
She is survived by her wife, Amy Wright (Craig, CO); her beloved bonus kids, Owen and Rae; her "son from another life," Paul Leinen; her mother, Victoria Lynn Morris (Phillip) of Morehead City, NC; her father, Steven Kirk Wyman (Sharon) of St. Simons Island, GA; her brother, Thomas Sheldon Wyman (Candice) of Morehead City, NC; nephew Walter Harvey Wyman; niece Winnie Scott Wyman; and her grandmother, Helen Marie Casti of Newport, NC; alongside a beloved village of aunts, uncles, cousins, and chosen family.
She was preceded in death by her grandparents, Harvey A. Wyman and Veda Louise Wyman; her grandfather, James E. Casti; and her aunts, Harva Lou Buchanan and Betty Ann Unruh.
The family extends their heartfelt gratitude to the team at the Jan Bishop Cancer Center, as well as Andrea and Chloe from Northeast Colorado Health Hospice for providing such compassionate care during Gina’s final days.
