Ina Faye Mack was born on December 14, 1934, in Craig, Colorado, at the Taylor Street home of Atha and Lura McAnally. She was the daughter of Ole C. and Jean (Templeton) Barber. Ina Faye passed away on September 30, 2026, in Meeker, Colorado, at the age of 91.
During her childhood in Maybell, Colorado, Ina Faye lived at her grandparents’ store and filling station. She also spent many years on the family ranch three miles west of town.
Ina Faye attended grade school in Maybell and Sunbeam. In 1949, her family moved to Craig, settling into the old Trevenen house at 690 Taylor Street. She graduated from Moffat County High School in 1953. After spending half a year at Mesa Junior College, her roots drew her back to Craig, where she took a position as a service representative with Mountain Bell Telephone & Telegraph Company.
Ina Faye and Thomas George “Tim” Mack were married on September 4, 1954, at the Congregational Church at the corner of East Victory Way and Tucker Street. In 1957, they welcomed their first son, Jeffrey Alan, followed by Tracy Wayne in December 1958.
Ina Faye, Tim, and the boys spent about eight years moving throughout the region, working on large cattle ranches in Arizona and along the Colorado–Utah and Colorado–Wyoming borders. In 1968, the family settled permanently in Craig, where Tim began working for the Moffat County Road & Bridge Department.
Back in Craig, Ina Faye became a familiar face in the local workforce. She helped open the town’s first J.C. Penney Catalog Department, where she worked for four years. She then spent four years working at Moffat County High School, first as an audiovisual aide, then as the attendance secretary, and eventually as secretary to the principal.
Due to health complications, Ina Faye stepped away from full-time office work to become a dedicated homemaker. After a couple of brief periods of employment, she returned to local retail work. She worked at the J.C. Penney Catalog Department in the Centennial Mall and later joined Kmart when its new store opened behind McDonald’s.
Ina Faye loved to sew, making western shirts for herself, Tim, and the boys. During a period of illness, she taught herself to crochet and created beautiful afghans and other pieces. She also kept busy embroidering tea towels for the Craig Christian Church Ladies Mite Society.
Ina Faye was a woman of deep faith and community spirit. A dedicated member of the Craig Christian Church since 1975, she poured her heart into the Ladies Mite Society. She also belonged to the Order of the Eastern Star for several years.
Ina Faye is survived by her two sons and their wives, Tracy and Teresa Mack, and Jeff and Gretchen Mack; her sisters-in-law, Ruth Barber and Shirley Rogers; and her cherished grandchildren, great-grandchildren, nieces, nephews, great-nieces, and great-nephews, who will miss her dearly.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Thomas “Tim” Mack; her step-grandson, Chance Phelps; her brothers, Leroy “Roy” Barber and Lynn A. Barber; and her sister-in-law, Linda Barber.
To honor Ina Faye’s deep love for her community and church, the family kindly requests donations to the Ladies Mite Society in lieu of flowers. Donations may be sent to the Ladies Mite Society, c/o First Christian Church, 960 W Victory Way, Craig, CO 81625.
A Graveside Funeral Service will be held at 11:00 a.m., Friday, October 9, 2026, at the Craig Cemetery.
