November 28, 1947 – March 18, 2020
John F. Gallenbeck was born to John Henry and Lois Elizabeth (Dickerson) Gallenbeck, on November 28, 1947 in Spooner, Wisconsin. John and his family moved to Hardin, Montana when he was seven years old, and after nine years moved to Rawlins, Wyoming. The family finally settled in Baggs, Wyoming when John was a senior in high school. After high school, John met and later married Bobbie Woods. To this union, John was honored to become the stepfather of Alan Gallenbeck. Their marriage was not meant to be and ended in divorce. On April 25, 1985 John married the love of his life Donnalie Markt. From a young age John was interested in mechanic work. He started by helping out his father when needed, and as he got older, spent most of his adult life working as a full time mechanic with an emphasis on farm equipment. When John was a young man he worked on several ranches and for the last 20 years of his life he worked diligently for the Wyoming Department of Transportation out of Baggs. John’s greatest pride was his farm. When he wasn’t working on his farm, he enjoyed being in the outdoors where he enjoyed hunting, fishing, camping and hunting arrowheads and fossils. John passed away on March 18, 2020 after a long and debilitating illness. It was his request that no funeral services be held, however, his wife wanted to let the public know that he loved living in the Snake River Valley and that he felt blessed to consider many people there his friends. John is survived by his wife of 34 years, Donnalie Gallenbeck, of Baggs, Wyoming; stepson Alan Gallenbeck of Muldoon, Texas; sisters Sherry Rodabaugh of Rawlins, Wyoming, Sandy Curry of Grand Junction, Colorado, and Sally (Bob) Huff or North Platte, Nebraska; brothers Danny (Dora) Gallenbeck, and Bill (Kathy) Gallenbeck. John was preceded in death by his parents, John H. Gallenbeck and L. Elizabeth Gallenbeck. The Gallenbeck Family has requested that memorial donations be made to a charity of your choice in care of Grant Mortuary.
