Joyce Louise Alexander

Joyce Louise Alexander, of Craig, passed away surrounded by her family on Tuesday, July 14, 2026, at Redcliff Post Acute Care Center in Grand Junction. She was 79. A graveside funeral service will be held at 10:00 a.m., Wednesday, July 22, 2026, at Craig Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, the family suggests memorial donations be made in Joyce's memory to the Moffat County Cancer Society in care of Grant Mortuary, 621 Yampa Avenue, Craig, CO 81625.

Joyce Alexander was born in Pacific Grove, California, on September 2, 1946, to Willie and Hilda

Courtney. She passed away on July 14, 2026, at Red Cliffs Post Acute Nursing Home after a

courageous battle with cancer.

Joyce spent her childhood in Pacific Grove, California, alongside her sisters, Diane and Judy.

In 1963, Joyce met Ron at the service station where he was working. The two soon began

dating, and on April 10, 1964, they were married. Together, they welcomed three children: Ron

Jr., Tim, and Stephanie.

In 1978, Joyce moved with her husband and children to Craig, Colorado, where she made a lasting impact on the community. Throughout her life, Joyce worked a variety of jobs, including managing Jensen Subdivision and working at the Cosgriff Hotel. After her first grandchild, Britni, was born, Joyce left the Cosgriff Hotel so she could care for her. Shortly after, she opened her own in-home daycare, where she became known as “Grandma Joyce” to many children who were blessed to be in her care.

Joyce enjoyed crocheting, reading, and searching for treasures at yard sales. She loved family

dinners, spending time with those she loved, and creating memories together. More than

anything, Joyce cherished the time she spent with her grandchildren and great-grandchildren,

who brought her immense joy.

Joyce was preceded in death by her parents, Willie and Hilda Courtney; her mother-in-law and

father-in-law; her husband, Ron; and her great-great-grandson, Daxton.

She is survived by her son, Ron (Tia); son, Tim; daughter, Stephanie (Mike); grandchildren Britni,

Ashley, Justin (Bailey), Rachel (Trevor), Trenton, Ryan (Traelyn), Alyssa (Steve), Tucker (Skyler), and Tanner; great-grandchildren Dario (Joselyn), Aydan, Kayleigh, Kelton, Braeden, Carson, Bentley, Brystol, Kensley, Wrenly, Ryatt, Cruz; and great-great-granddaughter Analeigh.

Joyce was laid to rest on July 22, 2026, at Craig Cemetery, with Pastor Len Browning officiating.

Mike Zimmerman read the eulogy written by Joyce’s daughter, Stephanie.

Her grandsons, Dario Alexander, Aydan Alexander, Trenton Alexander, Ryan Zimmerman, Tucker Zimmerman, Tanner Zimmerman, and Justin Benedict, served as pallbearers. Honorary

pallbearers were Ron Alexander, Tim Alexander, Mike Zimmerman, Scott Johnson, Steve Gardea, Trevor Goodwin, Kelton Wilson, and Braeden McKinney.
