Our beloved mother, grandmother, partner, aunt and friend, Leona Belle Archer,71, passed away after a courageous battle with cancer, with her family by her side at her home in Craig, Colorado on February 4, 2026. Leona was born in Montrose Colorado to Harry Harold and Elva Louise Archer of Redvale on June 12, 1954. Leona spent her childhood riding horses, reading books and exploring the outdoors with friends.
Leona’s life was guided by her love and commitment to family. Thanksgiving was always the most cherished of holidays, surrounded by family and good food. She was willing to lend you her ear, which opened the door for her wit, wisdom and hard truths. She kept everyone on their toes with her sass and sarcasm, whilst providing a matter-of-fact but positive attitude throughout her life.
She is survived by her companion, Jack Ladish, with whom they shared 27 years of love and adventures. Her four children Jake Ferrier and his wife Brett, Doris Morrow and her partner Shawn, Malea Michael-Ferrier and her husband Gabe and Kenneth Ferrier and his wife Wyntir, and many grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
“Goodbyes are only for those who love with their eyes. Because for those who love with heart and soul there is no such thing as separation.” – Rumi
A Celebration of Leona’s life will be held on February 28, 2026 at the Steamboat Community Center from 4:30 to 7pm. Please join the family for tacos, desserts and remembrance.
In lieu of flowers, those planning an expression of sympathy are asked to consider Memorial Contributions be made in honor of Leona Archer to the UCHealth Jan Bishop Cancer Center (JBCC) and their staff.
