Mary Jeanne Durham
January 11, 1932 – May 7, 2021
Mary Jeanne Durham, a lifetime resident of Moffat County, passed on May 7, 2021 at her home in Craig, Colorado at the age of 89. She was born January 11, 1932 on Deer Creek, the second of five children born to Marion Ellsworth Osborn and Lila Marie (House) Osborn. She spoke fondly of her childhood, often saying “I had the most wonderful parents.” Riding horses, milking cows and buck-raking hay were some of her childhood memories. On January 26th, 1951 Jeanne married Almon Durham and moved to the Durham Ranch. To this union two daughters and a son were born. She enjoyed working in the large family garden as well as working cattle and haying. Jeanne was a school bus driver for the Williams Fork children and a lunch cook at the Hamilton School. After her divorce in 1972, she purchased her home in Craig and worked at Walco Distributing, a juke box and vending machine company. She worked hard and spent many hours traveling NW Colorado, making many friends along the way. Jeanne was a member of the Craig Christian Church. Her hobbies included traveling, knitting, crocheting, teaching her grandchildren to knit and crochet, visiting the wild horses at Sandwash Basin with her friends, baking cinnamon rolls and cookies to share, and so much more. Mary Jeanne Durham loved and was loved. Jeanne is survived by her children Cheryl (Ken) Peed, Kathleen (Jeff) Mitchell and Raymond (Starla) Durham, ten grandchildren, 17 great-grandchildren and 1 great-great grandson. Her surviving siblings are her twin sister, Joanne Netz, brothers Chuck (Ginger) Osborn and Larry (Reta) Osborn. She was preceded in death by her parents, Marion and Lila Osborn, and her sister, Patty Nicodemus. Private services will be held at the Craig Cemetery and at the family cemetery at the Durham Ranch near Hamilton. A celebration of her life will be held at the Craig Christian Church June 5th, 2021 from 2-4pm. All who knew and loved her are invited to attend. Jeanne will be greatly missed by all.

I knew Jeanne - many years ago - when we were both young and enjoying life.
She was such a great person to have for a friend.
