Lifetime Phippsburg resident, Neva Fay Ebaugh, died peacefully surrounded by her family on Monday, May 4, 2020, at the Doak Walker House at Casey’s Pond in Steamboat Springs, Colorado. She was 90 years old. A celebration of Neva’s life will be held at a later date. Neva Fay (Peters) Ebaugh was born one of three children to Harry and Jeannette (Haller) Peters on June 5, 1929 in Phippsburg, Colorado. She spent her childhood and attended public schools through the eighth grade in Phippsburg. She attended Yampa High School and graduated with the class of 1947. Following high school, Neva married the love of her life, Louis “Dutch” Ebaugh at her parent’s home in Phippsburg on June 22, 1947. To this union, three children were born. The couple made their home in Phippsburg where they raised their children. Neva and Dutch would have celebrated their 73 wedding anniversary this year. Neva was instrumental in helping develop the Phippsburg Rummage Shop where she worked until ten years ago. Neva enjoyed quilting, tending her gardens and spending time with her family. She was a member of several organizations including Eastern Star – serving as worthy matron in 1970, Phippsburg Community Club, local craft club, Yampa Baptist Church and she was the secretary for the Church at Phippsburg for many years until they unfortunately had to close their doors. She also volunteered many hours at the Oak Creek & Phippsburg Historical Society for many years. Above all, Neva was a devoted wife and loving mother, grandmother, great-grandmother and great great-grandmother. She will be deeply missed by her family, close friends and the community that she loved. Neva is survived by her husband, Dutch Ebaugh of Phippsburg; one son, Ronald (Sharon) Ebaugh of Phippsburg; and one daughter, Sharon (Lt. Col. William R. Roope Ret.) of Somers, MT. Neva is further survived by six grandchildren, thirteen great-grandchildren and three great great-grandchildren. Neva was preceded in death by her son, Jack Ebaugh; two sisters, Linda Wilkerson and Dorothy Peters; and her parents. In lieu of flowers, the family suggests memorial contributions be made in Neva’s memory to the Doak Walker House at Casey’s Pond in care of Grant Mortuary.
