Richard M. Mann
September 17, 1928 – August 3, 2019
Longtime Craig resident, Richard M. “Peanuts” Mann, died on Saturday, Aug. 3, 2019, surrounded by his family at Sandrock Ridge Care Center. He was 90. A graveside service will be held at 2:00 p.m., Friday, Aug. 9, 2019, at the Craig Cemetery. Richard Marvin Mann, affectionately known as Peanuts, Marv and Bud, was born one of seven children to James William and Alma (Mitchell) Mann on September 17, 1928 in Hayden, Colorado. He spent his childhood and attended schools in Mount Harris. Shortly after school, Richard enlisted with the United States Army during the Korean Conflict. When he returned home, he met a young lady in a café in Eloy, Arizona. On that day, Richard told his best friend that he would marry that beautiful lady someday. It turned out Richard would marry her on July 2, 1952. To this union, Richard and Bonnie welcomed four children into their family. Richard and Bonnie moved to Colorado in 1955. While living in Craig, Richard found employment at Moffat County Road and Bridge holding various positions throughout the department. He retired with 33 years of service in 1990. In his spare time, Richard enjoyed golfing, fishing and hunting. He also loved guiding and outfitting with his family and friends. In his later years, he enjoyed running his own remote control. He will be remembered as a devoted husband and loving father and grandfather. Richard is survived by his wife of 67 years, Bonnie Mann; two daughters, Shelley (Loren) Rozema of Saratoga Springs, UT and Carrie (Mark) Smith of Craig; two sons, Johnny W. (Lori) Mann and Doyle Dean (Tisha) Mann both of Craig; two brothers, Jimmy (Denise) Mann of Grand Junction and Donnie (Sue) Mann of Plains, MT; and one sister, Georgia (Tony) Gutierrez of Eaton, CO. Richard is further survived by six grandchildren, nine great-grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews. Richard was preceded in death by his parents; and three sisters: Shannon, Janelle and Kay. In lieu of flowers, the family suggests memorial contributions be made in Richard’s memory to the V.F.W. Post 4265 in care of Grant Mortuary.

That little kick in his step still makes me chuckle....always upbeat and fun! I will always value our friendship and remember the awesome night fishing trips we went on. Richard endured many a sleep over Shelley and I instigated....seems to me I spent more time at the Mann's house than my own!
