Born and raised in Craig Colorado, Rob was a genuine outdoorsman; excelling in skateboarding, snowboarding, and whitewater rafting. His love of adventure sometimes led to misadventure – one time, barely avoiding a side canyon flash flood in the Grand Canyon – but these experiences built in him a competence and an exceptionally supportive attitude that was an asset to his fellow travelers. He was known among his whitewater community as a supremely precise oarsman and an excellent teacher. He loved live music, sports, and his dog Nanko.
He is survived by his parents, Robin and Laurie Herring, his sister Anna, and countless friends. A celebration of life will be held at a later date.
