

Sherrill was born in Craig, Colorado on April 8, 1935 to Lester W. and Ethel R. Cox. Sherrill was raised in the Axial Basin area along with three sisters and three brothers.
Sherrill enjoyed helping take care of the family ranch until it was sold in 1973. He then worked on the construction of the Craig Power Plant and later went on to drive and train in the semi-truck industry until retirement.
Sherrill was an avid outdoorsman and loved to hunt, fish and spend summers at Steamboat Lake. He always looked forward to spending time with family and friends playing cards, watching the Broncos, Nascar and WWE. Sherrill was a great storyteller and could always keep everyone entertained.
Sherrill was preceded in death by his wife Bonnie; son, Dennis; sisters: Arline, Janice, Laurine and Wilma; and brothers: Allen, Bud and Lester Jr.
Sherrill is survived by his son, Richard (Kim) Cox; grandchildren: Amy Bustad, Zachary (Ginger) Cox, Cody (Jody) Cox; and numerous great grandchildren and great great grandchildren; and was a father figure to many more. He is also survived by his brother, LeRoy; and sister, Loretta; and many nieces and nephews.
In lieu of flowers the family suggests memorial donations be made in Sherrill’s memory to the Beehive Homes Assisted Living in care of Grant Mortuary.
Graveside Funeral Services will be held at 11:00 a.m., Saturday, September 26, 2026, at Craig Cemetery. A luncheon will be held at the VFW following the services.
