

Born September 9, 1929, in Waterbury, Connecticut, to William and Edith (Linn) Wrigney. She married Fred Laylock on June 27, 1948, in Peoria, who passed on December 26, 1996. She was also preceded in death by her parents, her sister Joyce Manley, and several nieces and nephews.
Surviving are two daughters, Joy (Mike) McFarden of Marquette Heights and Pat Starrett of Grinnell, Iowa; two sons, Rick (Kathy) Laylock of Washington and Walter (Rae Ann) Laylock of Metamora; eight grandchildren, Michelle (Curt) Eaker, Mindy (Matt) Booker, Jennifer (Ben) Oetzel, Melissa (Branden) Delk, Cassie (Trace) McIntosh, Chris (Lindsey) Starrett, Kelly (Scott) Desmarais, and Nichole (Ryne) Komnick; eighteen great-grandchildren and two great-great-grandsons.
Betty worked as a cook at the grade school in Creve Coeur until her retirement on April 21, 1977.
She enjoyed watching the Chicago Cubs and Tiger Woods. She also loved camping at Kentuckianna and playing cards with her friends.
Cremation has been accorded by Preston-Hanley Funeral Homes & Crematory in Creve Coeur. There will be no services.
