

Born August 3, 1942 in Peoria to Paul and Opal (Riley) Adams, he married Margie Faye Walker on September 2, 1967 in Creve Coeur. She survives.
Also surviving are two daughters, Michelle (Jill Welch) Adams of Tallahassee, Florida; and Kathy (Bill) Stark of Fairdealing, Missouri and one brother, Paul Ray Adams of West Virginia.
He was preceded in death by his parents; one son, Larry Stine and one brother, James Adams.
He served with the United States Marines and then with the United States Navy as a Seabee during the Vietnam War. While on active duty, he earned a sharpshooter award. After active duty he remained in the Naval Reserves as a Seabee and retired from the reserves. He recently received a certificate of recognition for his service from the Paducah KY chapter of the DAR.
He also retired from a full-time career with Caterpillar, Inc. as a tool grinder.
Chuck loved his family and was someone who was always willing to help others do anything needed. He called it like he saw it, was incredibly funny and taught his kids to stand up for their beliefs. He was fond of old cars, loved being near the water and boating. Chuck also was a private pilot in earlier years.
He was a 42-year member and past Worshipful Master of Hilton Lodge #1143 Ancient Free & Accepted Masons in East Peoria. Chuck also was a longtime member of the Pekin Moose Family Center 916.
His private graveside service will be in Fon du Lac Cemetery in East Peoria. Pastor Dwight Winnett will officiate. Military rites will be accorded by the United States Marine Corps and the Tazewell Military Rites Team. There will be no visitation. Arrangements have been entrusted to Preston-Hanley Funeral Homes & Crematory in Creve Coeur.
