

She was born June 16, 1935 in Granville, Mississippi to Willie B. and Louise T. (Scotts) Metts. She was preceded in death by her parents; one daughter, Joyce Barnes; one son, Carlos Peyton; one granddaughter, Jacolby Thomas; three sisters, Willie Ella, Evelyn Taylor and Clara Belle and one brother, Willie Metts.
Surviving are one grandson, Omeretires (Felicia) Barnes, Sr. of Peoria; seven great-grandchildren; eight great-great-grandchildren; two sisters, Shirley Metts of Peoria and Rose Marie of Camden, New Jersey; two brothers, David Metts of Winston-Salem and Jimmy Metts of Camden, New Jersey and many nieces and nephews.
Geraldine had worked as a Nurse’s Aide at Rose Garden Nursing Home in Peoria for 38 years, retiring in 2006.
She enjoyed fishing and shopping, both in stores and on QVC.
She was a member of the Order of the Eastern Star. She was also a longtime member of Bethel United Methodist Church in Peoria.
Her private funeral and visitation will be Monday, December 14, 2020 at Preston-Hanley Funeral Homes & Crematory in Creve Coeur. Pastor Tyson Parks, III will officiate. The service will be recorded and uploaded to Preston-Hanley Funeral Home Facebook page. Burial will be at Parkview Cemetery in Peoria.
