

He was born January 11, 1966 in Sault Ste. Marie, Michigan to Gregory and Carolyn (Grotz) Keyes, Sr. He was preceded in death by his father; maternal grandfather, Fred Grotz; one brother, James “Jay” Keyes and one step sister, Kathy Rauhous.
Surviving are his partner, Mikki Franklin of Creve Coeur; his mother, Caroyln (Larry) Drake of Avon Park Florida; one son, Gregory (Katie) Keyes of Waukesha, Wisconsin; maternal grandmother, Marilyn Grotz of East Peoria; one daughter, Elizabeth (Ray) Morrissey of Peoria; four grandchildren, Aurora Keyes, Irelynn Morrissey, Coben Morrissey and Tage Morrissey; his step-brother, James Drake of Morton; one step-sister, Cheryl (Doug) Draear of Tremont and two aunts, Denise (Stan) Hansard of Farmington and Dee Mooney of Morton.
Gregory had previously worked at Koenig Body & Equipment, Inc. in West Peoria as well as Platner Automotive as a district manager in Florida, retiring in 2021. In his free time, he enjoyed building and working with his tools. He also enjoyed fishing, playing pool, and being with his friends.
He was a man who loved his family and partner, someone who would send flowers to his mother and take her on coffee dates. He was a loving father and a grandfather who got to kiss his granddaughter on the cheek.
“I’m not here to take care of me, I’m here to make sure the person next to me is okay.”
There will be no services at this time. Cremation has been accorded by Preston-Hanley Funeral Homes & Crematory in Creve Coeur.
