

Born March 1, 1924 in New Boston, Missouri to Lawrence M. and Grace M. (Bailey) Watson, she married the love of her life, Ira Everett Wood Jr. on May 29, 1939 in Linneus, Missouri. He died October 15, 2004 in Peoria.
She was also preceded in death by her parents; one daughter, Romanza “Ronny” Clark; one granddaughter, Kasondra “Sandee” Castle; four brothers and four sisters.
Surviving are two grandsons; Timothy (Sandy) Harmon of Pekin and Michael Pesch of Morton; one granddaughter, Deanne (Bryan) Strube of Fisher, Indiana; three great-grandchildren, Dalton Harmon of Pekin, Oliva Strube of Fisher, Indiana and Owen Strube of Fisher Indiana; one son-in-law, Jerry Clark of Groveland and one daughter, Elaine (Robert) Pesch of Morton.
Helen was a homemaker.
She was a member of the First Baptist Church in Creve Coeur. Helen enjoyed spending time with her family, sewing, quilting, reading, playing cards and bowling.
Her visitation will be held 5 to 7 p.m. Thursday, June 24, 2021 at Preston-Hanley Funeral Homes & Crematory in Creve Coeur. A funeral service will be held at 10 a.m. Friday, June 25, 2021, officiated by Pastor David Lynn.
Burial will follow at Roberts Cemetery in Morton.
