James Melvin Caraway

He was born on July 22, 1937, in Walnut Ridge, Arkansas to Edwin Eugene and Ruby (Turner) Caraway. James married Twila Starr on December 3, 1961 in East Peoria. She survives.

Also surviving are four sons, James Bradley Caraway of Creve Coeur, Timothy Wray (Leah) Caraway of Creve Coeur, Keith A. (Rhonda) Caraway of Peoria and Kevin N. (Dayna) Caraway of Creve Coeur and five grandchildren, Aaron, Mason, Larissa, Caitlyn and Melissa.

James was preceded in death by his parents; one grandson, Christopher; three sisters, Frieda, Ann, Phyllis and one brother, Gene.

He proudly served his country in the United States Marine Corps.

After his enlistment he worked as a Power Trucker for Caterpillar Inc for 39 years.

James enjoyed working in his yard, shooting guns and spending time with his family.

Cremation Rites have been entrusted to Preston-Hanley Funeral Homes & Crematory Creve Coeur Chapel. Burial with full military honors will be held on a later date at Fondulac Cemetery in East Peoria.
