

CREVE COEUR ~ Janice Marcille Parker, 86, of Creve Coeur, passed away peacefully into the arms of Jesus at 9:39 a.m. Tuesday, January 28, 2025 at Fondulac Rehabilitation and Healthcare of East Peoria.
She was born April 12, 1938 in Iowa City, Iowa to Carl “Sam” F. and Irene Mae (Billheimer) Marcille. Janice married Oscar “Dee” Parker, Jr, on August 18, 1956 in Peoria. He preceded her in death September 22, 2020. She was also preceded in death by her parents; one brother Tom Pool; sibling in laws, Jim, Richard, and Audrey Parker; Joyce and Joann Parker, Phil Souza; mother and father-in-law; son in law; Danny Maness; one angel baby and two great-grandchildren, Olivia, and Carter.
Janice is survived by her six children, Deborah (Howard) Hughes of Gonzales, Louisiana, Dianne Lorenz of Peoria Heights, Donna Maness of Pekin, David (Lorinda) Parker of Caulfield, Missouri, Rebecca (Trang) Tran and Michael (Ty) Tran; 25 grandchildren; 46 great-grandchildren; 4 great-great-grandchildren, one sister, Linda Souza of California; one brother, Galen (Teres) Rothberg; sibling in laws, Gerald (Sally) Parker and Leonard (Karen) Parker; a host of nieces and nephews, and many friends.
She had a life well lived. She was a praying mother and grandmother, who loved Jesus. For 65 years, Janice was a member of Second Baptist Church in Peoria, where she was a first grade Sunday School teacher for many years. Janice loved to camp with her late husband, Oscar. Janice and Oscar spent many summers traveling; they took their grandchildren on their travels. They were members of FCRV (Bears and Cubs) and Good Sam club as well as a member of Lost Arrow Campground of Havana. Janice and Oscar were licensed foster parents for 11 years. Janice ran a licensed in-home day care for 12 years and was known as Nonnie to the children she cared for. She was a woman of many talents. Janice loved to bake her grandmother’s Christmas cookie recipe; she had a tradition of making egg rolls for her family on New Years; she enjoyed making teddy bears, wreaths, quilts and clothing for her daughters and granddaughters. She loved spending time with her family, especially visits from her grandchildren and her great-grandchildren. She enjoyed the holidays, especially Christmas and watching Hallmark Christmas movies.
Her funeral will be held at noon Saturday, February 1, 2025 at Preston-Hanley Funeral Home & Crematory in Creve Coeur. Pastors Jacob Chase and Paul Maitland will officiate. Visitation will be from 10 a.m. to noon Saturday at the funeral home. Burial will follow at Swan Lake Memory Gardens in Peoria.
