

Born February 22, 1939 in Springfield to Harold T. and Helen (Fulton) Jones, he married Patricia Brinkley on September 5, 1959 in Creve Coeur. She survives.
Also surviving are one daughter, Diane (Mike) Hemp of Metamora; one son, Tom (Deb) Jones of North Port; nine grandchildren, Marisa (Cory) Bollinger of East Peoria, Danielle (Kevin) Keen of Tremont, Rob (Stephanie) Jones of Groveland, Emily (Bryan) Thigpen of Creve Coeur, Stephanie (Mark) Aeschliman of Metamora, Brad (Tanya) Hemp of Germantown Hills, Heather (Aly) Jones of Cincinnati, Ohio, Holly (Brett) Miller of Venice, Florida and Brett (Alyssa) Jones of Fulton, Missouri; twenty-three great-grandchildren; one great-grandchildren on the way; his daughter-in-law, Michele “Mickey” Jones of Creve Coeur; one sister-in-law, Monica Jones of Trivoli; one niece and two nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents; one son, Daniel Robert Jones on August 30, 2024; two great-grandsons, Titus Jones and Cubb Jones; one sister, Shirley Jones; one brother, Timothy Jones; a sister-in-law, Sandra McFadden and a brother-in-law, Joe McFadden.
Jerry was a 1958 graduate of Spalding High School in Peoria.
Jerry spent his working years owning and operating Screen Graphics, Inc. and then Tri-County Sports Shop in Creve Coeur. He also served the Village of Creve Coeur as their Building Inspector for more than 20 years. He was a dedicated volunteer with the Creve Coeur Fire Department for 26 years and was part of the first group of EMT’s trained in the department. He also had worked as an EMT with the former AA Ambulance in Pekin.
Jerry enjoyed family vacations at the Lake of the Ozarks for more than 50 years with the Wayne Baker family. He enjoyed boating, coving and teaching family and others how to ski. He will be remembered as the family handyman.
He was a former member of Sacre Coeur Catholic Church in Creve Coeur.
His memorial service will be at 11 a.m. Tuesday, January 7, 2025 at Preston-Hanley Funeral Homes & Crematory in Creve Coeur. Pastor John Plunkett will officiate. Visitation will be from 9:30 to 10:45 a.m. Tuesday at the funeral home. Inurnment will follow the service at Resurrection Cemetery in Peoria.
