Born on July 24, 1945, in Canton, Illinois to Francis Shawgo, he married Sheree Lancaster on July 23, 1993 in Morton. She survives.
Lony spent 47 years as a dedicated machinist at Caterpillar, Inc., where he was respected for his skill, commitment, and integrity. Beyond his work, he found joy in motorcycling, traveling, and spending time with friends and family. AS an active member of the Gold Wing Riders of America and Anthem Nazarene Church of Ft. Myers, Florida, he built a community of friends who shared his passions.
Lony especially loved riding his Goldwing motorcycle with his wife, and then sharing stories from those adventures with his friends. The open road was his second home, and every trip was an opportunity to create cherished memories.
Lony was a man known for his strong work ethic, deep faith, and love for his family and friends. He also loved his little buddy, Bentley. One of his most meaningful experiences was a mission trip to Costa Rica in 2023 with Anthem Nazarene Church, where he was deeply moved by the people and culture.
Lony faced his recent illness with grace and courage. Surrounded by the love and support of family and friends.
A celebration of life service will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday, May 3, 2025 at Anthem Nazarene Church, 13545 American Colony Boulevard in Ft. Myers, Florida.
