

Born November 14, 1948 in Peoria to John A. and Helen M. (Pletke) Durham, she first married James Howell, whom she had one child with. She later married Loran Charles Franklin on December 18, 1986. He survives.
Also surviving are one daughter, Anna Marie (Danny) Henry of Pekin; two grandchildren, Ashlyn and Logan Thorne, both of Pekin; one sister, Shirley Salomon of North Pekin.
She was preceded in death by her parents and five sisters.
Margaret attended beauty school and worked as beautician for many years. She later began bartending at the Center Tap in East Peoria in 1985. She went on to own the Center Tap and retired after selling the bar in 2018. She also owned the Lucky Break Bar in Creve Coeur starting in 1996 with her daughter Anna Marie. She enjoyed being a bar owner and socializing with everyone over the years. She considered her many “bar friends” to be family.
A loving mother and grandmother, her family was the light of her life. She also loved traveling with her grandchildren to Disney World and Universal Studios. She also enjoyed traveling with her daughter and husband to Las Vegas.
Margaret also loved playing bingo and keno with her sister, Shirley.
Her memorial visitation will be from 5 to 7 p.m. Thursday May 5, 2022 at Preston Hanley Funeral Homes & Crematory in Creve Coeur. Inurnment will be at a later date.
