

He was born April 25, 1950, in West Plaines, Missouri, he was the son of James and Margaret (Kopsa) Canterbury. He was preceded in death by his parents.
Mike is survived by his son, Micheal W. Canterbury, Jr.; his grandson, Joshua Micheal Canterbury and his great-grandson, Josiah Braven Menton.
He was the second of six siblings. He is also survived by his brothers, Dennis and James Canterbury and his sisters, Laura Chepan, Anita Canterbury, and Connie Canterbury.
Mike retired from Caterpillar, Inc. in East Peoria over 20 years ago after a 30 year career. He was a former member of the UAW Local 974 in East Peoria.
He enjoyed riding motorcycles, collecting coins, and target shooting. He met many people through target shooting, including members of the Creve Coeur Police Department.
The last couple of years, Mike developed a close friendship with his nephew, Bob Dinkins. They spent a lot of time together, enjoying each other's company and sharing stories. Bob provided valuable support and companionship to Mike.
His brother, Dennis introduced Mike to the world of Stephen King. He became a SK Book Club Member and collector of King's novels. He had several bookshelves sagging under the weight of them.
At Mike's request, no services will be held. Arrangements have been entrusted to Preston-Hanley Funeral Homes & Crematory in Creve Coeur.
