Mitchell Davis Gordon

Born November 18, 1934 in Belhaven, North Carolina to Carlie and Thelma (Davis) Gordon, he married Johanna Maxine Gardner on April 17, 1976 in Peoria.

Mitchell is survived by his wife Johanna, brother Jack (Peg) Gordon, sons Timothy (Jodi) Gordon and Thomas (Sarah Jane) Gordon, grandchildren Noah and Rebecca, stepdaughter Eva (Don) Friday, five grandchildren and six great-grandchildren.

His parents, one stepdaughter, Paula (Troy) Driffill, one sister, Oceia Miller; and one brother, Carl Gordon, preceded him in death.

Mitchell’s faith in our Lord Jesus Christ was the guardrails of his life. He enjoyed golfing, gardening, vacationing on the Gulf Coast, reading, following sports, airplanes and sweets.

He served in the United States Air Force in Michigan and Taiwan.

Mitchell worked for the United States Postal Service for 50 years, retiring in 1992 from the Register Room at the Peoria Post Office.

Private services will be held at a later date. Arrangements are by Preston-Hanley Funeral Home & Crematory in Creve Coeur.
