Nora Marie Atkins

EAST PEORIA ~ Nora Marie Atkins, 81, of East Peoria, passed away at 10:41 p.m. Wednesday, January 18, 2023 at River Crossing in East Peoria.
Born February 24, 1941 in Vonore, Tennessee to Henry Mike “Tobe” and Worth (Gentry) Summey, she married Clinton Eugene Atkins on January 19, 1959 in Monroe, Tennessee. He survives.
Also surviving are three children, Loretta (Ron) Kelley of Peoria, Timothy Atkins and Stacey (Denis Ronzani) Moore, both of East Peoria; six grandchildren, Nena Kelley, Sara Kelley, Hope Kelley, all of Peoria, Samantha (Joseph Smith) Atkins-Rogers of East Peoria, Skylar Moore of Marquette Heights and Storm Moore of East Peoria; five great-grandchildren, Katlin Kelley, Aidan Payne, Isaiah Kelley, Rylee Smith and Remie Smith with one on the way; one great-great-granddaughter, Miilani and three sisters, Pearlene Summey, Sue Summey, both of Madisonville, Tennessee and Alma Jean (Alan) Giles of Venore, Tennessee.
She was preceded in death by her parents; six sisters, Viola Sue Belcher, Lucy McCullough, Zina Mae Murr, Nellie May Wiseman, Bernice Lanham and Tracy Nicole Summey and three brothers, Henry Summey, Harlis Summey and Christopher Dewayne Summey.
A homemaker, Marie formerly enjoyed going dancing with her husband at the East Peoria American Legion.
She also was devoted as a caregiver for her son.
Cremation will be accorded by Preston-Hanley Funeral Homes & Crematory in Creve Coeur. No services or visitation is planned.
