

Born August 8, 1939 in Patoka to Alva and Ida (Brown) Herrin, she married Everett John Cox on December 29, 1984. He died October 2011. She later married Vernon Christie on August 19, 2017. He died May 28, 2020. She was also preceded in death by her parents; one great-grandchild; 11 brothers and sisters and her son-in-law, Lonnie Robbins.
Surviving are six daughters, Pauletta Robbins of Creve Coeur, Cindy Howerton of Hernando, Florida, Cheryl (Rodney) Baker of Chillicothe, Marsha (Dan) Brune of Peoria, Linda (Steve) Berg of West Virginia and Kandi (Brandon) Lutz of Minonk; one step-daughter, Teresa (Mark) Foster of Bartonville; 13 grandchildren; several great-grandchildren and great-great-grandchildren and one sister, Wanda (Jerry) Wallace of Marquette Heights.
A homemaker, Shirley had formerly owned and operated the Country Cupboard in Groveland where she sold her handmade crafts. She was gifted at crafting, thrifting, building furniture and picture frames from barn siding and designing wedding flowers. She was also a great seamstress who also enjoyed canning, baking and gardening. Her greatest enjoyment in life was spending quality time with her family.
Shirley was of the Christian faith.
Her funeral will be at 11 a.m. Friday, February 14, 2025 at Preston-Hanley Funeral Homes & Crematory in Creve Coeur. Pastor James Hawkins will officiate. Visitation will be one hour prior to the service. Cremation will accorded following the service.
