

Born April 9, 1923 in Des Moines, Iowa to Leslie William and Eunice Etelle (Hinman) Lemons, she married William Pope Keeton on March 22, 1941 in Davenport, Iowa. He died December 14, 1999 in Creve Coeur. She also was preceded in death by her parents; her son-in-law, Skip Stolz; four grandchildren, William Hauter, Debbie Haney, Scott Keeton, and William J. "Jim" Keeton, II; two great-grandchildren, Nolan Dreyer and Gordon Hauter; one brother, George T. Johnson and one foster brother, John G. Jones. Her foster parents who helped raise her, James and Annie Jones also preceded her in death.
Surviving are one son, William J. (Bettye) Keeton of Saucer, Mississippi; two daughters, Sue Carol (Frank) Hauter and Eunice Stolz, both of Pekin; eight grandchildren, Marni (Scott) Nattier of Mackinaw, Kelli Keeton of Mesa, Arizona, Jeff (Lisa) Stolz of Pekin, Earl “Skip” (Tara) Stolz of Milford, New Hampshire, Cheryl (Paul) Dreyer of Montverde, Florida, Daniel Hauter of Nashville, Tennessee, Gordon Hauter of Nokomis, Florida and Carol (Kurt) Friel of Port Orange, Florida; seventeen great-grandchildren and twenty-five great-great-grandchildren and two great-great-great-grandchildren.
She was a homemaker.
Twyla was a charter and life member of the Creve Coeur American Legion Post 1234 Ladies Auxiliary. She also served the American Legion Auxiliary as a Past President of the 16th District and as a Past Division 3 President. She was a member and Past Chapeau of Tazewell County Salon 754 of 8 & 40. Twyla was also a longtime member of the Clover Leaf Chapter 1002 of the Order of Eastern Star in East Peoria.
She was a faithful member of First Christian Church Disciples of Christ in Creve Coeur.
Her funeral will be at 11 a.m. Wednesday, May 28, 2025 at Preston-Hanley Funeral Homes & Crematory in Creve Coeur. Pastor Dwight Winnett will officiate. Visitation will be one hour before the funeral. Burial will be at Roberts Cemetery in Morton.
