

Born on November 28, 1947 in Greensburg, Kentucky to Willie and Georgia (Keltner) Wilson, he married Linda Mae Franklin on July 30, 1966. She survives.
Also surviving are one daughter, Malinda (Eric) Gerhardt of East Peoria; one daughter-in-law, Tammy (Cory) Wilson-Nack of East Peoria; four grandchildren, Carlee (Brody) Woodard of Marquette Heights, Haley (Brian) Robbins of Chicago, Dakota (Matt) Wilson of Pekin and Kayla Gerhardt of East Peoria; one sister, Doris (Darwin) Morgan of Mackinaw; one sister-in-law, Brenda (Daryl) Taylor of Greensburg, Kentucky and one brother-in-law, Carlie (Judy) Franklin of Washington.
He was preceded in death by his parents; one son, Gary Wayne Wilson; three brothers, David, Gene, and Linwood Wilson; two sisters, Elsie Jefferies and Lula May Wilson.
Wayne worked as an assembler at Caterpillar Inc. for 30 years retiring in 1998 and was a member of the UAW Local 974.
He was the owner and operator of Wayne’s Rod Shop restoring classic cars. He was known as a Jack-of-all-trades and the family MacGyver.
He enjoyed traveling with his wife and spending their winters in Alabama and Florida. He also loved spending time with his family.
Wayne was a member of Creve Coeur Christian Church.
His memorial service will be at 10 a.m. Saturday, March 12, 2022 at Creve Coeur Christian Church.
Pastor Bill Holley and Brody Woodard will officiate. Visitation will held one hour prior to the service. Inurnment will be at Oak Grove Cemetery in East Peoria.
