

Born November 22, 1948, to William and Opal (Naugle) Powell in Mountain Grove, Missouri, he married Ruth (Tegue) Carpenter.
Surviving are his children, Teresa (Roger) Neill of Topeka, Catina Carpenter of Cahokia and Chris Powell of Republic, Missouri; seven grandchildren, Brittany, Chelsea, Brianna (Donnie), Tyler, Taylor, Tristin and Taryn; thirteen great-grandchildren, along with one on the way; one brother, Mark Powell and one sister, Brenda (Raymond) Morse.
He was preceded in death by his parents.
Randy was a veteran of the United States Army as a specialist in the 4th class.
Retiring in 2010, he worked as an assembler at Caterpillar Inc. for 39 years.
Randy’s grandchildren were a blessing to him. He would spend time going to all of their ball games, helping them with homework, as well as playing games with them. He coached basketball, softball, and soccer as well. A member of the Peoria Chess Club, Randy was fond of playing with his son and grandson. He also enjoyed fishing and watching the Chicago Bears. His family fondly remembers his cooking, especially his chili.
His funeral will be held at 1:00 p.m. on Wednesday, January 21, 2026, at Preston-Hanley Funeral Homes in Creve Coeur. Pastor Mark Byer will officiate. Visitation will be held from 11:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. Wednesday at the funeral home. Burial will be in Elmwood Cemetery, with military rites accorded by the United States Army and the Tazewell Military Rites Team.
