Born March 16, 1956 in Peoria to Willis T. and Luella Marie (Tucker) Campen, he Married Francisca B Camacho on July 2, 1977 in Guam. She died on July 18, 1999 in Guam. He was also preceded in death by his parents; two brothers, Alan Campen and Thomas Campen and one sister, Janice Auer.
Surviving are two daughters, Tracy Shockly of Las Vegas, Nevada and Janice (Fomaine) Babauta of San Diego, California; one son, Willis P.B. Campen of Houston, Texas; two granddaughters, Kacy and Madison; three brothers, Jerome “Jerry” (Judy) Campen and Galen (Joyce) Campen, both of East Peoria and Matthew (Jean) Campen of Creve Coeur and two sisters, Mary (Christopher Sr) Orr of Washington, Monica (Robert) Frietsch of Mapleton.
Bill was a Vietnam veteran of the United States Marine Corps, where served ten years as a tank mechanic in Okinawa, Japan.
He worked in the civil service with the Navy as a plumber in Guam for six years.
Bill was an avid collector and enjoyed adding to his stamp and knife collections. He was a member of the National American Legion.
He was a former member of Sacre Coeur Catholic Church in Creve Coeur and the National American Legion.
His graveside service will be at 10 a.m. Monday, March 8, 2021 at Fon du Lac Township Cemetery in East Peoria. Father Thaddeus Than will officiate. Cremation rites will be accorded by Preston-Hanley Funeral Homes & Crematory in Creve Coeur. Military rites will be provided by the United States Marine Corps and Tazewell Military Rites Team.
