She was born April 1, 1953 in Charleston and was a daughter of Hazel (Comer) and James H. Slater. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by sisters, Judy Rowe, Rosemary Tolbert, Brenda Seckman and Carolyn Stotelmyer; and brothers, Lee “Inky” Slater and Hubert “Junior” Slater.
Beverly was the wife of Don Jennings. They shared 27 years of marriage together. She retired from Tri-State Greyhound Park. She will be remembered for her love and closeness to all of her children and grandchildren, along with her many nephews and nieces.
In addition to her husband, she is survived by her sons, Joseph Simmons of Charleston and Joshua Simmons of Winfield; her daughter, Jennifer Jennings of Logan; brother, James Ervin Slater of Berkeley Springs, WV; sisters, Dianne Kelly (Frank) of Hurricane and Janice Gill of Dunbar; and a host of grandchildren, nephews and nieces.
A celebration of life for Beverly will be scheduled at a later date.
