He was born August 2, 1953 in South Charleston and was a son of Carl and Mary Lucas Clendenin. He owned and operated Clendenin's Body Shop. He was an Army veteran who loved the outdoors and riding his Harley Davidson.
Carl is survived by his daughter, Christie Johnson (Johnathan) of Hanover; brother, Jeffrey S. Clendenin of St. Albans; sister, Lee Ann Butcher of Copper Hill, VA; grandchildren, Sarah and Aaliyah Green, Johnathan Jr. and Jayvion Johnson.
