at Hubbard Hospice House,Charleston

Butch was born September 28, 1940 the

son of Cecil Elsworth Magaw Sr and Thelma

Howerton Magaw

He was a lifelong member of International Union

of Operating Engineers Local 132 Charleston

and worked on many construction projects in the

Tri State area.

Butch was a Big Man, standing 6’61/2” and

had an even bigger personality, if you met him once,

You wouldn’t forget him! He knew everyone and

he never met a stranger in his life

Butch was a Cowboy and had horses most of his

life and had “Butch’s Trail Ride” as a young man,

He also went west with his brother Walt and herded

cattle. He was also a Farmer and leased over

1000 acres in the Putnam County area and

raised an assortment of crops.He loved horses

and kept all sorts of animals- pigs, sheep,

cattle, goats, chickens and ducks. He also

ran an Esso Gas Station and had a Purina Feed

Store.

He is survived by his Loving wife of 61 years Lorraine Watson Magaw;

Children, Laurel (Jamie) Moore, Lorne (Kathy) Magaw,

Josh (Stacy) Magaw; Sister,Ona (Wayne) Willard;

Grandchildren, Anthony (Lauryn)Davis, Shayla (Josh)

Yarbrough, Levi Magaw; Bonus Grandchildren,

Amanda Moore Walker, Austin Priddy, Seth Wells;

Great Grandchildren, Oaklynn Rose Yarbrough;

Bonus Great Grandchildren, Blair Lee Walker,

Cheyenne Elaine Walker; He is also survived by

Lots of nieces, nephews and great nieces and nephews

He was preceded in death by his siblings, Betty Magaw Smith,

Roger Magaw, Donna Magaw Burch, Roy Dean Magaw,

Walter Magaw and Linda ”Sharry” Magaw White.

Celebration of Butch’s life will be1:00 P.M. Friday, September 8, 2023 at Tyler Mountain Funeral Home with Celebrant HR Whittington presiding. Entombment will follow in Tyler Mt. Memory Gardens, Cross Lanes.

Gathering of family and friends will be from 11 until time of service at the funeral home.

In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be made to Hospice.
