

Margaret Lucinda “Cindy” Clendenin, of Sissonville, passed away peacefully on December 9, 2025, surrounded by her loving family as she entered her heavenly home.
Born on December 13, 1947, to George S. and Alma B. Armstrong, Cindy graduated from South Charleston High School, Class of 1965. She later met the love of her life, Dennis Clendenin, on a blind date arranged by their dear friends, Steve and Joanne Stover.
Throughout her life, Cindy worked in several roles, including at RISH Equipment, local doctor’s offices, and the Kanawha County Board of Education. However, her greatest and most cherished title—the one that truly defines her legacy— is “Nana.”
Cindy is survived by her husband of 56 years, Dennis Clendenin of Sissonville; her three children: Brian Clendenin (Angie), Cherie Litton (Jon), and Eric Clendenin (Maria), all of Sissonville. She leaves behind seven grandchildren—Abby and Chase Litton, Madi, Pippa, and Reese Clendenin, Bailey Clendenin, and Zakk Cole; as well as one great-grandchild, Eden Rainey.
She is also survived by her brother, George Armstrong (Sheila) of Franklin, West Virginia; her sister, Beatrice Dotson (Martin) of South Charleston; sister-in-law Dee Armstrong of Baltimore, Maryland; and brother In-law Ralph Allison (Mary) of Statesville, North Carolina.
Cindy was preceded in death by her parents; her brother, William Armstrong; and In-laws Ed and Barb Wager and Donna Allison.
Celebration of Nana‘s life will be 1 PM Monday, December 15, 2025 at Goldtown Community Church, Goldtown with pastors Adam Lowe and Jimmy Casdorph officiating. Burial will follow in Tyler Mountain Memory Gardens, Cross Lanes.
Gathering of family and friends will be from 11 until time of service at the church.
Cindy found great joy supporting local food pantries. In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to Goldtown Community Church, Attention: Food Pantry.
