Debra “Debbie” Comer Boggess, 68 of Charleston passed away peacefully on September 6, 2024 while in hospice care at CAMC Memorial Hospital after a courageous battle with cancer. Her faith in Jesus sustained her fight.
Debbie attended Sissonville High School and was employed by Kanawha Valley Hospital, later known as CAMC Women and Children's Hospital for 49 years. Her work with children at the hospital was her life. She loved the children there as well as her “work family” as she referred to them. Her dedication and love was evident in the tireless care she provided. Her own grandchildren, who knew her as “Nana” brought her much joy as well as her love of cooking.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Dallas and Janice Comer, her son Joshua Boggess, grandson Zachary Comer, and granddaughter Jordan Comer. Those left to treasure her memory include her son Jeremy Comer and his wife Amanda Comer; her grandchildren, Philip “Michael” Comer and fiancé Sarah Mecca, Madison Comer, Joshua “Maddox” Boggess, and Braedyn Comer; brothers David Comer, Alan Comer, Jeff (Danette) Comer, Greg Comer; sister Sue (Mark) Shaffer and several nieces and nephews. Other dear family and friends include Mitchell Boggess and all of her beloved work family.
Celebration of Debbie’s life will be held 2:00 P.M. Sunday, September 15, 2024 at Tyler Mountain Funeral Home. Gathering of family and friends will be from 1 until time of service at the funeral home. Inurnment will be in Boggess Family Cemetery, Sissonville at a later date.
