

He was born on April 24, 1944 in Williamson, WV, a son of Nancy Mounts and Frank Runyon from Rife Branch. In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by his brother, James Runyon, sister, Kathy Rockel, and his son in law, Tom Tom Bias.
Those left here to cherish his memory include wife of 31 years Patty Runyon of Whitman. Mother-n-law Pat Mahanna of Whitman. His children Regina (Myran) Starr of Lenore, Franklin Runyon of Lenore, Lisa Bias (Clifford Bartram) of Whitman, Roberta (Richard) Watts of Whitman. Grandchildren include Velma Starr of Lenore and Eric Starr (Kyra Yates) of Lenore. Jospeh Runyon (Erica Day) of Whitman. Jacob (Kristin) Bias, of Chauncey. Jessica (Travis) Turner of Whitman. Justin (Summer) Johnson of Chapmanville. Tomi Bias of Whitman. Great Grandchildren include Joe Joe and Alyssa Runyon of Whitman, Brynlee Voitelle of Chauncey, Jase and Jaynee Turner, of Whitman. Jake and Amelia Johnson of Chapmanville. Siblings include: Aracoma, (Glen) Hall, Barb (Johnny) Riggs, Damon (Hattie) Runyon, Della (Paul) Marcum, Abigail Runyon, Teresa (Okey) Brewer, Paul (Lisa) Runyon, Laura Sue (Lee) Collins, and David (Rachel) Runyon. And a host of loving nieces and nephews.
Dewey was a proud UMWA member of local #17 of 35 years. Retired from Consolidated Coal Company. A member of Verdunville Church of God for 30 years. He was a devoted husband and a loving father, whom was very heavily involved with all his grandchildren and great-grandchildren's lives. He enjoyed making
memories with them and watching them grow up. He enjoyed being the neighborhood watchman for his family and neighbors. Riding his scooter around the house and looking for bears. He enjoyed coon hunting. Not only was Dewey loved by his family and friends, but he was loved by the many residents of Patty’s
Home Away From Home. He will be greatly missed by all who knew him.
Celebration of Dewey’s life will be 1:00 P.M. Sunday, November 22, 2020 at Verdunville Church of God with Pastor Michael Hartwell and Pastor Timmy Mullins officiating. Burial will follow in Highland Memory Gardens, Godby.
Gathering of family and friends will be from 4 to 6 at the church on Saturday.
