
Dorothy (“Dottie”) Elizabeth McClung McCoy, 91, of Charleston, WV formerly of Avon Park, FL, went to be with the Lord September 26, 2014. She was born October 6, 1922 in Princeton, WV the daughter of Obadiah and Dora Cole Keaton. In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by her first husband Joseph Raymond McClung, Sr., her second husband Edward C. McCoy, her son in law, Leland Price, Jr., 7 brothers, and 4 sisters. Dottie was a 1945 graduate of Charleston General School of Nursing. She was head of surgery with Charleston General Hospital and later retired from Drs. Hills and Loimil. She was a member of Calvary Baptist Church, Charleston, WV and First Baptist Church, Avon Park, FL. Dottie volunteered for the Red Cross, local hospitals in WV and FL, and was active in both churches helping the needy. She loved gardening, fishing, playing cards and loving to win, cake decorating, yoga, flower arranging, crafts, cooking and entertaining for family and friends. She was a loving mother, grandmother, and sister that will be greatly missed by all who knew her. She is survived by her children, Joseph Raymond McClung, Jr. and his companion Joyce Bobrycki of Charleston, Donna Price and her dear friend Robert Burnside of Beckley, Barbara Slack and her husband Dale of North Augusta, SC, Gary Keaton McClung and his wife Janet of Johns Creek, GA, and Pam Beheler and her husband Jim of St. Albans, 9 grandchildren, 14 great grandchildren, sisters, Mary Pritt, of Oak Hill, and Carol Jones and her husband Ron, of Memphis, TN and several nieces and nephews. Celebration of Dottie’s life will be 1:00 P.M. Sunday, September 28, 2014 at Bartlett Burdette Cox Funeral Home, 513 Tennessee Ave, Charleston, WV 25302 with her nephew Retired Navy Chaplain Jerry Shields officiating. Burial will follow in Sunset Memorial Park, South Charleston. Gathering of family and friends will be Saturday from 6 to 8 at the funeral home.
