

Eleanor Rhea Marshall, 84, of Cross Lanes died on January 27, 2016. Her family honored her final request, which was to pass away at home surrounded by those she loved. She will be remembered for her Christian faith, her dedication to her family, and her strength to persevere. The sixth child born to parents, Virginia and Stanley Hudson, Eleanor was born on August 8, 1931. As a young child, she moved with her family to Eleanor, WV. There the Hudson’s were one of the founding families of the town. Eleanor graduated from Poca High School in 1949. She married her husband, Frederick Marshall, on February 10, 1951. This union produced three sons, Frederick, Terry, and Gary. They also raised a granddaughter, Amy. Eleanor was a member of Perrow Presbyterian Church and a former employee of the Diamond Department Store. Eleanor was preceded in death by her parents and all eight of her siblings. Left to cherish her memory include her husband of 64 years, Frederick Marshall; sons, Frederick (Vicki) Marshall of St. Albans, Terry (Pam) Marshall of Clendenin, WV, and Gary (Lisa) Marshall of Covington, VA; grandchildren, Amy Fortson, Adam Marshall, Amanda Marshall, Christina Marshall, Sarah Marshall, and John Marshall; great-granddaughters, Cecilia and Katrina Fortson; and several brothers-in law, sisters-in-law, nieces and nephews. Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. on Saturday, Jan. 30 at Tyler Mountain Funeral Home, 5233 Rocky Fork Road, Cross Lanes with Pastor Jack Maxwell officiating. Burial will follow at Tyler Mountain Memory Gardens. The family will receive visitors from 1:00 p.m. until the time of service. The family would like to thank the medical staff at CAMC-Memorial for their care of Eleanor in the weeks prior to her death. They would also like to thank Hospice for their support.
