Frances Young

She was born March 9, 1946 in Charleston, the daughter of William and Rosetta Watson Lowther. In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by her loving husband Gilbert Young, and sister Betty Pennington and her faithful fur baby Patches.

Frances was retired from Union Carbide with over 25 years of service. She was an active member of Mt. Pleasant Baptist Church. Frances and her late husband were avid campers and loved traveling.

She is survived by her nieces, Sharon Osborne, of Elkview, Karen Whitlock, of Mooresville, NC, step daughter Pamela Jones (Mike), of Elkview, step son Jeffrey Young, of Charlotte, NC, grandchildren, Christopher Jones (Erica), Andrew Jones (Katie), and Matthew Jones (Brie), Nikki Young, great grandchildren, Zoe Jones, Paxton Jones, Avery Jones, and Mason Jones, great niece Amanda Chandler, great nephew Robert Smith (Samantha), and a host of other relatives and friends.

Celebration of Frances’s life will be 1:00 P.M. Saturday, July 19, 2025 at Mt. Pleasant Baptist Church with Pastor Lee Swor officiating. Burial will follow in Tyler Mt. Memory Gardens, Cross Lanes.

A gathering of family and friends will be from noon until time of service at the church.

In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be made to Kanawha County Humane Society.
