

Genevieve Jones Miller Genevieve Jones Miller, of Hurricane, died Monday, September 21 after a short illness. She was 87. She was a devoted Mother, Grandmother and Great-Grandmother, who was treasured and respected by her family, her wide circle of friends, especially her friends at TOPS WV 530 and members of her church community. She was born in Fayette County, a daughter of the late John D. and Wavie Morton Stone. Living most of her life in the Kanawha Valley, Genny retired from an administrative career at C&P Telephone Company. She was devout in her faith, attending Nitro Church of God. She loved time spent with family and friends, game shows and puzzles and anything sweet. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by husbands Cole “Casey” Jones and Harry L. Miller; brothers Stanley, Curtis and Kermit Stone; sisters, Norma Humphreys and Lavonavieve Lacy; step-daughters Dolly Jones and Rhonda Miller. She is survived by sons D. Joseph (Joyce) Garnes and Michael B. (Karen) Garnes of Hurricane, and daughter Sandy L. (Fred) Sowards of Culloden and step-children: Mary Jones (Jerry) Sigler of Des Moines, Iowa; Danny Jones of Jension, Michigan; Robert (Marjorie) Miller of Perrysburg, Ohio; Nancy Miller (Ernest) Monhollen of Ida, Michigan;Robin, Abby and Rusty Miller, of Hurricane. Genny had 5 grandsons: Travis (Jamie) Garnes of Huntington; Trent (Dawn) Garnes of Winchester, Virginia; Ryan Garnes of Atlanta, Georgia; Jesse Sowards of Culloden and Dusty (Tammy) Sowards of Maricopa, Arizona. She had 13 step-grandchildren. She delighted in her great grandchildren: Christian, Chloe, Camryn, Josie, and Gavin, and her two step-great grandchildren. In addition, Genny is survived by brothers John D. (Virginia, deceased) Stone, Frank (Barbara) Stone, Donzil (Carol) Stone and Alan (Betty, deceased) Stone and two sisters, Meredith (Hubert) Neal and Carol (Don, deceased) Osborne. Services will be held 1:oo pm, Friday, September 25th, 2015 at Tyler Mountain Funeral Home 5233 Rocky Fork Road, Cross Lanes, West Virginia 25313 with interment to follow in Tyler Mountain Memory Gardens. The family will receive friends on Thursday from 5 to 8 p.m at the Funeral Home.
