George Arlen Miller
Apriln18th, 1936-July 24th, 2026
On July 24, 2026, our beloved father, George Arlen Miller, was called home to be with the Lord at Hospice of the Piedmont, High Point, NC. He lived a life firmly rooted in faith, devoted to Jesus Christ, and guided by the teachings of the Holy Bible.
George was born in Plymouth, WV, to the late Virginia and Edward “Eddie” Miller.
In February 1955, he married the love of his life, Thala Jeanette Saunders. Together they shared 69 years of love, faith and devotion, until her passing in 2024.
George is lovingly remembered by his children: David Miller (Josie) of Kernersville, NC. James Miller (Bambi Craft) of Milton, WV. And Robin Bennett (Eric Beane) of Godwin, NC. He also leaves behind 7 cherished grandchildren: Paula Culverhouse, Holly Garner, David Miller Jr., Ali Broome, James Miller Jr., Tasha Bennett and Trenton Bennett, and 12 Great Grandchildren, Adam, Walker, Elijah, Adilyn, Damien, Makayleigh, Olivia, Landon, Lelia, Austin, Arlyn, and Callan. In addition to his beloved wife, George is preceded in death by his parents and brothers Harry Miller of Winfield, WV and Thomas “Tommy” Miller of Nitro, WV.
George graduated from Nitro High School in 1955. After graduation he went on to work at the Charleston Daily Mail. He later entered the construction industry as a skilled concrete finisher and retired from Orders Construction. Even in retirement, George remained active enjoying part-time work at Rippling Waters Campground in Kenna, WV, and Statler’s Greenhouse in Nitro. Outside of work, George found great joy in tending his gardens. He also enjoyed spending summers camping with his family.
Above all, George was a devoted husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather, and faithful servant of God. His unwavering love for his family was matched only by his steadfast faith in Jesus Christ. He was a member of the Nitro Church of Christ, where he and Thala faithfully worshiped together.
Though he will be deeply missed, his family finds comfort in the promise of eternal life and the joyful hope of being reunited with in Gods heavenly Kingdom.
Family and Friends are welcome to honor George’s memory, at Tyler Mountain Memory Funeral Home on August 1st at 1pm.
