Born on September 29, 1960, in Charleston, Greg was the youngest son of Sue T. and the late Donald K. Smith. He graduated from Stonewall Jackson High School in 1979 and remained deeply connected to his hometown throughout his life.
Greg was a man of boundless curiosity and quiet strength. He found joy in the outdoors—whether walking, running, or simply soaking in nature’s beauty. A passionate motorcycle and sports enthusiast, Greg also had a deep love for reading and personal growth. His inquisitive mind and commitment to self-improvement inspired those around him.
He is survived by his devoted mother, Sue Smith; his brother, Donald K. Smith II.; his son, Greg Smith II; his partner and best friend, Dianna Walker; and a wide circle of family and friends who will miss his warmth, wit, and wisdom.
Graveside Service will be 10:30 A.M. Wednesday at Cunningham Memorial Park, St Albans.
In honor of Greg’s life and legacy, the family kindly requests that donations be made to the American Cancer Society, supporting ongoing research and the hope for a cure.
