

Harold Everette Maddox, 90, of Scott Depot, went home to be with his Lord and Savior on February 1, 2019. He was born April 15, 1928, in Putnam County, the son of the late James Everette and Estella Arrington Maddox.
Harold was a loving husband, father, grandfather and great-grandfather. He was devoted to his wife of 69 years, Freeda Womack Maddox, and their three children and spouses: Alan and Rose Maddox of Scott Depot, Robin and Becky Maddox Crouch of Huntington, and Rich and Marilyn Maddox McClure of Parkersburg. He was "Papaw" to seven grandchildren and their spouses and 14 great-grandchildren: Michael and Terra Maddox of Hurricane – Austin, Brianna and Taylor; Angela Maddox of Lavalette; Ryan and Sarah Crouch Rhodes of Bossier City, La. – Grayce, Briar, Hadley and Harper; Justin and Bethany Crouch Cox of Huntington – Jase and Lucas; Brian and Sara McClure of Parkersburg – Declan, Asher and Eli; Todd and Erin McClure of Charleston – Jehiah and Abi; Scott and Katie McClure of Parkersburg.
Beginning with orange crates and scrap lumber, Harold became a master carpenter. He worked for Checkerboard Feed, Ford Bacon and Davis, and retired after 38 years from Union Carbide Technical Center. He took great pride in his work.
As an active member at First Baptist Church of St. Albans he served as a trustee, providing care for the church's facilities.
Harold was preceded in death by his sister, Mildred Maddox Coyner and her husband, Paul Coyner.
A celebration of Harold's life will be at 11 a.m. on Tuesday, February 5, at First Baptist Church of St. Albans, with the Rev. Joel Harpold officiating. Burial will follow in Cunningham Memorial Park.
Friends will be received 10 to 11 a.m. Tuesday before the service.
The family wishes to thank the staff of Bellaire of Devonshire in Scott Depot and Kanawha HospiceCare for their loving care for Harold during his illness.
