Helen Jean Smolder

home surrounded by family and love on August 30, 2025. She was born

August 29,1948 in Charleston, the daughter of Chester and Beatrice Taylor Gandy. In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by her

loving husband of 32 years Stephen Smolder and brother Chuck Gandy.

Helen graduated from Nitro High School class of 1966, was a member of St

Anthony Catholic Church of Charleston WV, retired from CAMC General

Division where she was an EEG Technician. After retirement she enjoyed

going to concerts with her friends, working at Cracker Barrel, going to

the beach and traveling

Helen is survived by her children, Mike and Kim Smolder of Charleston,

and their three children Anna (16), Samantha(14) and Gauge(11). Jennifer

and Jason Bell of Eldersburg, MD and their two children Mallory (20) and

Ashton (18) and her feline and k-9 friend, Molly and Finn. Helen's grandchildren were the light of her life and enjoyed spending all of her spare time with them.

Celebration of Helen’s life will be 7:00 P.M. Saturday, September 6, 2025 at Tyler Mt. Funeral Home with Rev. Claude Holley, Jr. officiating. Burial will follow in Tyler Mt. Memory Gardens, Cross Lanes.

Gathering of family and friends will be from 5 until time of service.
