Jackson Lee “Jack” Simpson, 82, of Charleston, formerly of St. Albans, passed away July 20, 2014 at Hubbard Hospice House, Charleston. He retired from Columbia Gas Transmission after 38 years of service. He was a member and treasurer of Faith Presbyterian Church for 30 years and was an Air Force veteran of the Korean Conflict where he was a cryptographer. Jack was preceded in death by his first wife, Norma Jean Simpson; daughter, Diana Lynn Muetzel; and sister, Jewell Copenhaver. He is survived by his wife, Tessa Simpson; grandson, John David (Lori) Muetzel of Columbus, OH; great-grandson, Jackson Isaiah Muetzel; many nieces and nephews; stepdaughters, Wanda (Tracy) Cunningham and Bonnie Roe, both of Sissonville; and stepgranddaughter, Macy Cunningham. A celebration of Jack’s life will be 1:00 p.m., Wednesday, July 23, 2014, at Casdorph & Curry Funeral Home, 110 B Street, St. Albans with Rev. Chad Cowan officiating. Burial with military graveside rites will be held in Cunningham Memorial Park, St. Albans. A gathering of family and friends will be from 11:00 a.m. until time of service Wednesday at the funeral home.
