

He was born April 26,1934 in Sanderson, the son of Hubert and Ida Stricker Haid. In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by daughter Liz halstead and Wanda Allen, son in law, Randy Allen, grandson Robert Roby brother Robert Haid and sisters Mary Withrow. Violet Bays, and Lucille Blackshire.
Sam retired from US Postal Service as Tour Supervisor with over 30 years of service. He was a US Army Veteran having served during the Korean Conflict. His significant duty assignment was a morse code interceptor. He received the Korean Service Ribbon, United Nations Service Medal, National Defense Service Medal, Good Conduct Medal and Marksmanship.
He is survived by his loving and beloved wife of 46 years, Mona, children, Deborah Canterbury (Mark), Kathy Light (Keith), Woody Haid (Jackie), Mike Burrows (Kelly), JR king (Angie), Kathy Roby (Marion), son in law Charles "Chuck" Halstead, 13 grandchildren, 21 great grandchildren, and 2 great great grandchildren, and sister Doris Akers.
Celebration of Sam's life will be 6:00 P.M. Sunday, September 14, 2025 at Tyler Mt. Funeral Home with Pastor Brian Hughes officiating.
Gathering of family and friends will be from 4 until time of service at the funeral home.
Military Graveside Rites will be conducted at 11:00 A.M. Monday, September 15, 2025 at Tyler Mt. Memory Gardens, Cross Lanes with St Albans VFW Post 6418 and American Legion Post 73 conducting.
