He was born April 27, 1951 in Charleston, the son of James Stanley and Elizabeth Bass Mooney, Sr. whom preceded him death.
Jim was a god fearing man. He would read his bible every evening before going to bed and talk to god. He loved his family and being around everyone. One of his favorite things to do was go out to dinner and be with his family. He was in the coal business for 50 years. During his career he developed many friendships that still exist today. He was an Elder Master (8th degree black belt) in Shaolin Do Martial Arts. He had a true passion for teaching the art of Kung Fu and if you ask anyone that took class from him, they would agree. But more than anything he was a great friend to everyone that knew him.
He is survived by his children, James S. Mooney, III (Vickie) of Vincent OH, Tracy Crouch (Cary), of Scott Depot, grandchildren, Olivia Gilkeson (Garrett), Hannah Sargent (Robert), Isaak Mooney, Adam Mooney (Maddie), Carson Crouch, and Kendyl Crouch great grandchildren, Arlo Gilkeson and Robert Sargent Jr., sister Peggy Kretzer (Kenneth), and niece Amy Preece (Dave) and a host of other relatives and Shaolin Family.
Celebration of Jim’s life will be 12:00 P.m. Friday, February 14, 2025 at Tyler Mt. Funeral Home with Grandson Isaak Mooney officiating. Private burial will take place.
Gathering of family and friends will be from 10 until time of service at the funeral home.
