

He was born December 3, 1944 in South Charleston, the son of John and Inez Hart Stephens. In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by his beloved in laws Harold and Violet Worstell.
Steve was a faithful Christian and active member of Washington Street Church of Christ, St. Albans. He was a US Army Veteran stationed in Korea, and Germany. Steve was employed with AES in Charleston for 21 years and Virginia Air for 13 years. He was an avid WVU fan, loved to play golf, an avid outdoorsman, and who loved spending time at his camp in Pocahontas County. It is only fitting that we mention his undying love for his family.
Left to cherish his memory are his loving wife of 48 years, Joyce Worstell Stephens, sons, Johnny Harold, of St. Albans and James Lee, of Elkview, daughters in law which were like daughters to him, Donna Michelle “Micki” and Bridget Marie, his grandchildren, Maddie, Noah, of St. Albans, and Emma and Harper Stephens, of Elkview. In addition he is survived by his sisters, Carolyn Alford, of SC, and Donna Stephens, of NC, special niece Lisa who was like a daughter, numerous nieces, nephews and cousins.
Celebration of Steve’s life will be 11:00 A.M. Monday, July 7, 2014 at Casdorph & Curry Funeral Home with Minister Eddie Cooper officiating. Burial will follow in Cunningham Memorial Park, St. Albans, with full military graveside rites to be conducted.
Gathering of family and friends will be Sunday from 1 to 4 at the funeral home.
