

Junior Lee McHenry, 90, of Cross Lanes, WV, departed this life on July 26, 2016 at his home. He was born on June 5, 1926 in Baldwin, Gilmer County, West Virginia. He was the son of the late Ethel Mae Carr McHenry and Archie W. McHenry. He was preceded in death by his wife, Justine McHenry; three brothers, Charles, Jackie, and Larry; and three sisters, Sue Shoulder; Virginia Carte and Marie McHenry Junior is survived by two brothers, Eugene and Wayne; two daughters, Karen Boggess and her husband, John, and Brenda Barnes and her husband, Tom; one son, Mark McHenry and his wife, Kathy; four grandchildren, Brenda Jackson and her husband, Ryan, Nickolas McHenry and his wife, Jennifer, Justin McHenry and his wife, Sarah, and Tessie Bacon and her husband, Samuel; five great-grandchildren, Zack; Taylor; Lilah and Clara McHenry and Wells Bacon and two special dogs, Mack and Crickett. He graduated from Sand Fork High School and was inducted into the army during World War II. His basic training was in artillery at Fort Bragg, NC and paratrooper training at Fort Benning, GA. Later, he was shipped from California to the Philippines and Sendi, Japan. After receiving his discharge from military service, he attended the Auto Diesel College in Nashville, TN. Then in Charleston, WV, he became an Atlantic Greyhound Lines bus driver for 36 years. He also served as president and treasurer of Atlantic Greyhound Federal Credit Union and later became the secretary-treasurer of Local 1493 Amalgamated Transit Union. He was a member of the Cross Lanes United Methodist Church. Funeral Services will be held on Saturday, July 30 at 2:00pm at Tyler Mountain Funeral Home, 5233 Rocky Fork Road, Cross Lanes with the Rev. Dr. Gary Nelson and the Rev. George Webb officiating. Entombment will follow in Tyler Mountain Memory Gardens West Virginia Memorial Mausoleum Chapel. There will be a gathering of family and friends from noon until service time Saturday at the funeral home. The family would like to thank Kanawha Hospice Care for their help and support.
