

He was born August 20, 1947 in Charleston, the son of Creed and Othella McClanahan. In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by his brother Hankie McClanahan, and sister Gail McClanahan.
Kermit retired from Floral Hills Cemetery, Sissonville. He had previously worked at TruTemper, I W C Corporation, Aluminum Metal Works, and WV DOH. He was a decorated US Army Veteran having served in Vietnam where he earned the Purple Heart. He was a member of VFW Post 3066. Kermit was an avid outdoorsman. He was loving father, grandfather, companion, and friend that will be greatly missed by all who knew him.
Kermit is survived by his son Edward Lee (Angela) McCLanahan, the light of his world his only grandson Kase McClanahan, his companion Billie Gordon who stood by his side for nearly 40 years through thick and thin, brother, James McClanahan (Rose), Bernard McCLanahan (Nina), and sister Marcella Thomas (Steve), Priscilla Taylor (Donald), and Debra Jordan (Kenny), and a host of other relatives and friends.
Celebration of Kermit’s life will be 1:00 p.m. Saturday, August 16, 2025 at Tyler Mt. Funeral Home with Pastor Paul Bailey officiating. Burial will follow in Goff-McCLanahan Cemetery, Kelly’s Creek, with Military Graveside Rites conducted by St Albans VFW Post 6418 and American Legion Post 73.
Gathering of family and friends will be from 11 until time of service at the funeral home.
